The top three lots on offer at an upcoming jewelry auction at Christie’s in Geneva feature blue diamonds, with the lead piece expected to bring in up to CHF 6.5 million ($7.9 million).
The ring, a Boucheron creation, contains an emerald-cut, 6.24-carat, fancy-deep-blue, VVS2-clarity diamond center stone with round rubies and baguette-cut white diamonds. It will be the highlight of the May 14 Magnificent Jewels sale, according to Christie’s.
Another blue diamond was originally set to headline in Geneva. The consignor pulled the pear-shaped, 23.24-carat, fancy-vivid-blue Golconda Blue diamond ring from designer JAR, which was expected to bring in up to $50 million, from the sale last week.
The sale will include a 21-piece collection by JAR slated to bring in more than $3 million, as well as a bevy of blue diamonds. It will also feature pieces from well-known design houses, including Graff, Reza, Bulgari and Harry Winston.
Here are the rest of the top 10 lots:
A Graff ring bears an oval-shaped, 3.68-carat, fancy-vivid-blue, VVS2-clarity diamond center stone with pear-shaped diamond side stones. It has a top estimate of CHF 3.7 million ($4.5 million). This ring, with a marquise brilliant-cut, 11.64-carat, fancy-light-blue, VS2-clarity diamond between triangular-shaped diamond shoulders, has an upper presale price of CHF 1.8 million ($2.2 million). A necklace with emerald-cut, D-color diamonds weighing 10.61, 8.37, 5.13, 5.13, 4.42, 4.10, 3.16 and 3.10 carats, as well as rectangular, pear-shaped and round diamonds, is estimated to fetch up to CHF 1.5 million ($1.8 million). This pear modified brilliant-cut, 20.10-carat, D-color, VVS1-clarity diamond ring by Reza has a high price of CHF 1.3 million ($1.5 million). A Bulgari brooch containing a buff-top Colombian emerald weighing 43.55 carats and a pear-shaped, 24.84-carat Colombian emerald, along with pear, marquise-shaped and round diamonds, could realize as much as CHF 1.2 million ($1.5 million). Christie’s will sell this ring, bearing an octagonal-shaped, 14.90-carat Colombian emerald and trapeze-shaped diamonds, for up to CHF 850,000 ($1 million). This ring has a cushion-shaped, 13.80-carat Kashmir sapphire flanked by tapered baguette-cut diamonds. It has a high estimate of CHF 800,000 ($967,592). A Harry Winston ring with a cut cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut, 21.38-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow diamond center stone and tapered baguette-cut diamonds has a top price of CHF 800,000 ($967,592). Antique natural pearl and diamond earrings will also go under the hammer at the sale, carrying an upper price tag of CHF 800,000 ($967,592).
